The Society of Power Engineers (India) is an apex body engaged in the activities of technological upliftment of the power engineers of this country by making available latest technological developments all over the world to the members. Publication & distribution of information Journal, Workshops/Seminar, group discussion are regular features of the society. The Headquarter of the SPE is at New Delhi with chapters at various places in the country.
The SPE (I), Vadodara Chapter with enrolled membership of 2287 (as on March, 2017), is the most active chapter amongst all of them. There is a significant group of power & power related engineers in & around Vadodara. The ever increasing number of membership of the Vadodara chapter is the testimony to this fact.
We are glad to inform you that the Vadodara Chapter of the Society of Power Engineers (I) which was inaugurated on 3rd October 1996, has now become a significant group of power engineers hailing from GETCO, MGVCL, UGVCL, DGVCL, PGVCL, GUVNL (of earstwhile GEB), GIPCL, NPC, GSFC, ONGC, M.S. University, Private Universities, Power Equipment Manufacturing companies (like L&T, ABB, Jyoti Ltd., Alstom, Siemens, Schnider, Motwane etc.), ERDA, & Consulting Firms. In addition to this many individual consultants and retired Senior Officers from Govt. / Semi-Govt. organisations are also members of the society. There are some institutional members also. The Chapter is engaged in the activities of technological upliftment of the engineers related to Power Sector of this country by making available latest technological developments all over the world to the members.
The Chapter is regularly organizing monthly Lecture Sessions, Seminars, Symposiums, Workshops and Training Programs for the benefit of all the Members as well as Industries and Academic Institutions. Publication & distribution of information Journal, Workshop / Seminar, Group Discussion, Study Tour etc. are regular features of this Chapter.
The Vadodara Chapter also regularly publishes News Bulletin (Quarterly issues) giving information about the various important Workshops, Seminars etc. News of achievements by the members in the field of power is also covered in the bulletin. The chapter is having a Library for day to day use by the members and also an Information Centre regarding various publications of CBI & P, New Delhi.
By now the chapter has conducted numbers of Seminars and Workshops on different topics related to Design, Manufacturing and Testing of Equipments, Switchgears & Ancillaries of Thermal Power Plants, Transmission and Distribution of Power, Energy Conservation Techniques etc. All these Seminars and Workshops were a grand success with a participation of more than 200 expert Faculty Members, Prominent Power Technocrats of the country and Power Enthusiasts. The papers presented during these workshop have been compiled in the form of a proceedings and are available in the office of the Chapter.
More & more Seminars / Workshops are planned in the coming year. For this a separate bulletin will be issued by the SPE (I), Vadodara Chapter from time to time.
One of the aims of SPE (I), Vadodara Chapter is to bridge the gap between Academy and Industry. SPE (I), Vadodara Chapter has a pool of well experienced engineers and experts in various fields. The Chapter has planned out a specific workshop program for benefit of College Students. The intention of this program is to reduce the gap particularly in respect of practical aspect amongst Students, Faculties, Academicians and Practicing Engineers in various disciplines of Power Engineering with a primary view to increase the chances of placement and enhance the application of latest development in Power System Engineering thereby updating the knowledge of faculties.
For the smooth & efficient functioning of the Chapter, the Executive Committee has developed time bound action plans. The Executive Committee members and the Advisory committee members invariably meet each month and exchange views on the development of the Chapter. A full-fledged power Engineering related institutional, financial, technical, managerial and administrative matters are discussed & finalised during such meetings. The Executive Committee takes all major decisions only after review of the Advisory Committee. This brings unity in diversity.
The Chapter is by the Engineers & for the Engineers.
